Group Presentations Experience By Jennifer Concepcion
I think all three groups did great while presenting the chapters. I was in group one presenting chapter 3 and I feel like we did an awesome job working as a group, bonding as classmates getting over our fears of public speaking, and bringing the chapter into life through our presentation. I myself was afraid to speak with my mic on during the presentation but am glad that I had classmates who supported me through it all and an awesome professor who made us feel comfortable while speaking in a class full of students. Even though we are virtually meeting she has made plans very fun in a way that makes us feel as if we are in a classroom. In group 1 we worked together to talk about intercultural communication. We did an awesome job explaining the chapter by showing visuals, various images, and videos to help portray the way different cultures communicate. The second group was presenting chapter 9 about the types of families that exist and the way they function and the different types of social groups. I compared my own friend group to the examples that were shown and noticed that it was 100% accurate. We are all unique in our own way much like the presentation demonstrated. They also spoke about support groups, interest groups, different types of service groups, and the types of work groups that are most commonly seen in typical career environments. I love the way group two used various examples that are commonly known to us like some popular movies and careers that have different work teams to further help us understand the chapter. They did an awesome job attaching videos of them explaining various slides. I thought that was very brave and unique of them to do, it was something I would of been extremely shy and terrified to do. Adding a jeopardy game to the presentation was also a creative idea. They all did a great job explaining chapter 9 to us. Lastly, group three did an awesome job presenting chapter 10 about group leadership and problem solving as well as bringing the energy onto the presentations while including all groups to participate in the surveys. The participation of all groups in the surveys brought a challenging spin to their presentation making sure we had paid attention during all presentations while learning about the three chapters.
In my opinion we all did awesome jobs in fitting the three chapters into three presentations while making it visually pleasing. I myself am a visual and hands-on learner by which this way of learning is the best option for me. I understood more about the three chapters through the presentations than when I was reading. All in all, the presentations were organized, well spoken, and informative. This first assignment was a great confidence booster for me into being more open to public speaking. I am proud of all of us for doing such a great job and I thank my classmates, our class leaders, and Professor Sinkoff for making this such an awesome learning experience.
I am like you...a very visual learner!! Great reflection! I hope you will continue enjoying the next presentations!!
